For the establishment of "Security and Well-being for
all Humankind" in the 21st Century, not only are further refinements in existing
welfare policies needed, but also is the revitalization of community welfare societies
able to produce various new organizations, relationships and policies on their
own. To this end, this program aims to create a new learning domain, "Welfare
Society Development Studies". The new domain integrates fields of policy
science and evaluative research of welfare fields centering on elderly care by
the NFU Graduate School of Social Welfare, and fields of participatory social
development research of developing countries by the NFU Graduate School of International
Social Development. Although it was the NFU Graduate School of Social Welfare
that made the application for this program, the program will be conducted jointly
with the NFU Graduate School of International Social Development for the establishment
of a Center of Excellence in the Asian Region lead by NFU. In order to accomplish
the objectives of this program, research and education in the following five areas
will be promoted: (1) Policy science approach to care for the elderly, (2) Community
care and welfare society development models applicable to the semi-mountainous
regions of Japan, (3) Methods of welfare society development in Southeast Asia
and South Asia, (4) Welfare society development in East Asia, and (5) Integrative
healthcare / medical care / welfare systems. Through research and education involved
in the establishment of theory and methods of Welfare Society Development Studies,
this program aims to cultivate academia that can make great contributions to participatory
welfare development. |
