The national life of Japan is now facing a very hard period.
Various policies have been proclaimed to tackle the successive problems facing our nation including employment and job placement, at the same time, there is also a high expectation that these various policies should not be implemented either partially or temporarily. What we need is to bring about the 'national reformation' of Japan for the 21st century.
For the new formation, 'Fukushi (or well-being, welfare)' should not be limited to narrow sense of welfare. The realization of Fukushi which covers such broad areas as finance, the economy, culture and national life is required. To this end, people who have specialized in Fukushi and have a strong passion toward Fukushi are needed by Japanese society.
It is the time to show our real value as the 'Fukushi integration university.'
Nihon Fukushi University, which will mark its sixtieth anniversary in 2013, has now over 10,000 students from its graduate schools, variety of faculties, the faculty of Distance Education, several colleges and the affiliated senior high school.
We here at, N.F.U once again reaffirm our determination to devote ourselves to nurturing persons who 'live for the reformation and betterment of society' (taken from the original sprit of the foundation of this educational group) based on our tradition as symbolized by our 60,000 graduates; educational and research achievements recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology with consecutive special funds.

With its aim of being a university which encourages 'Fukushi (well-being, welfare),' Nihon Fukushi University (N.F.U) has been devoting itself to making progress and achieving fulfillment in three arenas; 'Health and Healthcare (Life),' 'Well-being and Economics (Living),' and 'Education and Development (Reason for Living.)
N.F.U has now six faculties. The Faculties of Health Science, Child Development and International Welfare Development were established in 2008. The Faculty of Social Welfare is the first faculty of its kind to be established in Japan. The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Healthcare Management are designed not only to foster understanding of economics and management issues but also to deepen the understanding in general of well-being and welfare. In addition to these, the Faculty of Distance Education is designed to educate students about the integration of medicine, welfare and management. N.F.U has been continuously striving to achieve 'Well-being and Happiness for all people' by integrating the resources of all its faculties.
To all newly-entered students, it is my wish that you will gain these four capabilities; the capability to make connections, the capability for compassion, a capability to make a commitment and the capability to communication through seminars, lectures, club activities and volunteer activities by absorbing N.F.U's supportive tone, which is the roots of N.F.U, and by learning practically. I also wish that all of you will set and gain your own goal and let your 'Fukushi' spirit bloom. All the faculty members and staff at N.F.U heartily devote ourselves to you not only from the perspective of your university life but also taking into consideration your future career.
