講義のテーマ・概要・ねらい
Students will study dialogues and how they are written. The students will write their own dialogues with a classmate. These dialogues will then be evaluated by the teacher for correct grammar, writing style, etc.
After the dialogue is accepted by the teacher, the students will memorize and practice the dialogue in preparation for performing it as a skit or mini-play in front of the class.
Students will be encouraged to be creative in their dialogue writings and to show how they would handle different situations that would come up in their day to day life including meeting new friends, deciding where to go when going out with a friend, or any other topic of interest to them.
Evaluation will be weekly using a grading system of from 0…10 where 10 is the highest grade. The ability to use eye to eye contact when performing these skits will be very important because it will not only mean that the students have learned their parts well enough to do very little reading of the dialogues when performing the skits they have written but also allow them to use their voice and body to actually act out these skits. At first, the students will find this a bit difficult as they may be a bit shy in regards to performing in front of their classmates, but my experience is, that within three to four weeks, the excitement of actually performing a mini-play in front of others makes them forget about being shy and instead develops within themselves a certain confidence in what they are able to do. It also helps them to realize that speaking English is not so difficult and so they should lose some of the fear they may have had in speaking English. Losing this fear is the beginning of learning to speak good English
