講義のテーマ・概要・ねらい

This class focuses on developing speaking skills and building self-confidence. At the end of this course, students are expected to develop various techniques to give effective oral presentations on daily-life and professional subjects and participate in discussions in an international environment. Emphasis is on functional language used in typical inter-cultural settings, including active listening, asking questions, and contributing ideas and opinions. Classroom activities are all interactive: pair work, group work, panel discussions, and communicative games. Students are expected to give at least four prepared oral presentations on their own selected topics, and evaluation of the presentations will be done by classmates.

Active participation in class discussions is highly encouraged and required in order to achieve the class objectives.
