NFU Graduate Programs

NFU will further deepen its four-year research and training programs. Undergraduate educational programs will be merged and expanded in order to establish 4 graduate programs divided into 11 courses of study. Focusing on local communities, industry and the international community, NFU is committed to the development of professional practitioners, researchers and instructors, who will support the fields of welfare and medicine in the future.

Social Welfare Graduate Programs

Social Welfare – Master’s course

 Through tuition of high-level, specialist knowledge and research guidance in the area of social welfare, NFU cultivates in our students a view sensitive towards welfare issues faced by modern society and explores problem solving. Our aim is to produce people with the skills to assume leading roles as researchers and educators in the field of social welfare and in a wide range of other healthcare environments.

Social Welfare – Master’s course (distance education)

 The objective of this graduate-level distance education course is to develop issue resolution-focused, practical policy systems and assistive technologies for organizing and carrying out comprehensive empirical research that aims to coordinate, plan and systemize social resources. The program is intended for persons who are currently working. The curriculum is based on the three spheres of welfare policy, clinical welfare and community welfare. While the internet plays a primary role in providing students with interactive education and research guidance, schooling entails an intensive course that deals with social welfare research methods providing students with highly effective instruction in the form of research paper reading sessions focused on particular areas in each sphere of learning, general discussions and individual research guidance aimed at nurturing professionals in the fields of health, medicine, welfare, education and child-care.

Clinical Psychology – Master’s course (evening classes)

This graduate-level evening course will train clinical professionals with an in-depth understanding of clinical psychology. The course aims to provide students with practical skills and assistive theory in clinical psychology in order to cultivate specialists including psychological diagnosticians, psychotherapists, school counselors and industrial counselors to tackle various issues in the fields of medicine, welfare, education for business and government.

 

Health and Social Services Management Graduate Program

Health and Social Services Management – Master’s course (evening classes)

 Nihon Fukushi University Graduate School was established in 1969 with a graduate program in 'Social Welfare' and it was the first graduate school of its kind in Japan. Since then, Nihon Fukushi University has established a variety of graduate programs.
More and more in the area of health and social welfare, a capability to manage and meet the diversified needs of users and the ability to tackle various issues from a management perspective is now required of N.F.U. Graduate School graduates.
In order to better meet the demands of this new era, the N.F.U. Graduate School integrated the Healthcare Management, Social Welfare Graduate Programs, and the Healthcare Management, Healthcare Management and Human Environment Graduate Programs to establish the new Health and Social Services Management Program in April, 2009. The purpose of this program is to nurture personnel with broad technical knowledge and a high degree of management capability.

 

International Social Development Graduate Programs

International Social Development – Master’s course (distance education)

 This graduate-level distance learning program aims to cultivate human resources able to respond to the need for “human-oriented development” while simultaneously fostering skills in the area of social development. Students will take an in-depth look at the “Development Studies” framework, which encompasses a variety of development fields ranging from macroeconomics to micro issues, and conduct research that links theory with practice. A combination of interactive, online lessons and face-to-face classes both in Japan and overseas are adopted to provide in-depth education and research guidance.

Social Welfare – Doctor’s course

Research spheres in this course have been divided into three separate areas, “Social Welfare Theory & History,” “Social Welfare Policy & Planning Theory” and “Social Welfare Practicum & Assistive Theory.” Our aim is to provide the skills researchers will need to play a key role in social welfare research and education.

Healthcare Management – Doctor’s course

 Based on education and research program in the Healthcare Management course, Healthcare Management and Human Environment Graduate Programs, this course consists of two research spheres - “Medical and Welfare Business Management Studies” and “Comprehensive Management Studies.”

Human & Information Environment – Doctor’s Course

 Based on education and research program in the Human & Information Environment course, Healthcare Management and Human Environment Graduate Programs, this course consists of two research spheres - “Human Information” and “Environmental Information.”

International Social Development – Doctor’s course (distance education)

 Based on the International Social Development Master’s course education and research program, this course is comprised of three research spheres - “Development Planning & Special Research,” “Macro-development & Special Research” and “Micro-development and Special Research.” The aim of this course is to cultivate world-class junior researchers in the field of international development and cooperation and to develop management-level personnel to assume leading developmental roles.
