The Social Welfare Faculty aims to develop social welfare professionals able to provide lifestyle support and to train local citizens who can contribute to the improvement of social welfare to provide all people with a sense of safety, security and quality of life. Courses focus on providing students with the basic knowledge and ability to analyze and act for the betterment of social welfare.

The Faculty of Economics is concerned with the study of social welfare and its impact on both global and locally situations. Students will develop the logic to analyze problems and provide solutions to complex issues and in establishing networks of support in working with social issues.

NFU Faculty of Healthcare Management

To ensure that modern corporate management, health and welfare are able to respond more effectively to demands from regional businesses, international cooperatives, NPOs and NGOs, the Faculty of Healthcare Management strives towards “creative managers” who possess both a mind for healthcare and a mind for business, concentrating on providing students with a higher level of specialist knowledge in each field.

 Acquire management skills for the development of 21st Century medicine, welfare, sport and business to address the latest problems and issues.

NFU Faculty of Child Development

Facing issues of child development; such as the breakdown of classroom discipline, truancy, bullying, juvenile crime and abuse, this program focuses on providing the support for sound development of children, both educationally and psychologically, tackling head on the various physical and psychological issues of children at different stages in their development and the environment in which children live.

▲Early Childhood Education and Care Course

 To develop the ability to address the issues faced by children and to nurture their rich potential. Students will become qualified child-care workers or obtain kindergarten teacher certification, as well as the expertise required for working at child-care centers, kindergartens and child welfare facilities.

▲Elementary Education Course

 To develop the ability to deal with problems in children of school age and ensure their well-rounded development. Learning the diverse skills required by elementary school teachers. Students will also acquire knowledge in the area of special needs education.

Department of Clinical Psychology

 Focusing on the problems that children face from infancy to adolescence, students will develop the ability to tackle emotional problems and gain an understanding of the personal and mental issues involved in the area of child welfare and education.

NFU Faculty of International Welfare Development

We aim to develop and nurture professionals who understand the importance of welfare, and can communicate in English to play a role in contributing to the community and organizational management. Students will study in a broad range of fields including welfare, development, the environment and economics to develop important skills such as English language proficiency and facilitation. This course will train human resources to play leading roles in a variety of situations that go beyond Japan’s borders, such as supporting the self-reliance of people in developing countries and connecting them with the international community.

 Under the theme of international welfare, our goal is for community welfare to be implemented both in Japan and overseas. Students learn practical English and the skills to communicate globally.

NFU Faculty of Health Science

We support healthy lifestyles from the perspectives of rehabilitation or “Caring for People” (providing physical and emotional support and guidance so that people are able to be healthy and active.) Human care engineering is to create the means and environment so that we may enjoy longevity and good health. NFU aims to train professionals capable of providing total support needed to provide care for people in a user-friendly environment with practical healthcare equipment.

 Under the keyword “activity”, students learn how to help patients develop, recover or maintain healthy lifestyles. We train physiotherapists capable of working with people with disabilities and in connection with other fields.

▲Occupational Therapy Course

 We aim to develop what patients and users would regard as healthy lifestyles. In a sphere that covers areas of both neuroscience and social welfare, we cultivate students’ abilities so as to enable them to bring the special characteristics of occupational therapy into full play.

▲Care Work Course

 We aim to produce nursing care specialists who possess broad knowledge and are highly skilled in health, medicine and welfare-related areas. NFU provides students with specialist skills, knowledge and expertise they need to serve their local community.

Department of Human Care Engineering

▲Health Assist Information Course

 Students study engineering and information technology to support a healthy lifestyle and lifestyle independence. NFU offers students the skills they need to undertake the development of the network technologies and healthcare equipment required by society today.

▲Barrier-Free Design Course

 This course provides students with the skills to create living-working environments that allow people to enjoy life and lead a healthy lifestyle. Students acquire knowledge in the areas of health and welfare design, constructing environmental know-how towards creating a wide range of welfare facilities.

 

Department of Distance Education

 

 The Department of Distance Education enables students to learn at their own pace online over the Internet and offers a unique curriculum such as Business Management, Medicine & Welfare Business Management, Community Management & International Cooperation and Healthcare and Life Management. This wide range learning systems provide students with the necessary management skills. Currently, there are approximately 6,500 students in Japan and overseas participating in our Distance Education courses.
